What we do
- Members in this club learn how to train and show their dogs!
- In the New Hampshire 4-H Dog Program we specialize in obedience and showmanship, but we love to learn all types of dog sports, activities, and work.
- The children also learn dog general knowledge including dog care, grooming, breed information, first aid, dog sports, career opportunities, and more!
When and where?
- Rolling Bones meets twice a month (2nd and 4th Wednesday nights) for our regular practice meetings in the Concord area.
- All of our members compete/exhibit in at least one of the 4-H fair dog shows a year which are held summer through fall.
- There are many special events held throughout the year that members have opportunities to participate in such as an all weekend dog training clinic, specific training seminars, quiz bowl practices, public relations events, presentation days, field trips, parades, fun matches, and more.
Who can join
- Rolling bones is open to members ages 8 (as of January 1st) - 18 years of age.
- Mix bred or purebred dogs are welcome.

Once I join how will I catch up to the more experienced 4-Hers?
- All of our 4-Hers and dogs have been beginners at one time. Practice, attending meetings, and asking a lot of questions is important! You steer your own 4-H experience! Listening, learning and practicing what you learned in class with your dog is key!
- There is a list of reading materials that is helpful in learning as well.
- We encourage the parents/guardian of new members to ask questions and seek explanations from other parents during meetings. Many of our parents are 4-H leaders themselves, and can help a lot with learning the “ropes”. We find parents who do this feel less overwhelmed with all the new information and can help their child, in turn, feel less overwhelmed as well. Also they can help their child when at home practicing.
- Parent/Guardian support plays a huge role in the success of any child in our program.
- There are different levels of obedience and showmanship. The more experience and practice the higher you will go. All beginners will ALWAYS stay on leash at all times. Only more advance dogs and members are allowed to work off leash, with leaders’ permission.
